The German progressive rock band Saris was found in 1981 by Derk Akkermann. Between 1982 and 1983 they toured through Germany and performed successful their neo-progressive-melodic-hard-rock. During the tour the first Single Out “Of Your Night” was released.
With a new line-up SARIS recorded their first Album Dead End Street in 1992 (released 93) and started a tour through Germany. After 3 years some guys left the band again.
With a new drummer and bass player Saris spent about 2 years with sessions and learned to draw their new musical dimensions. But nevertheless they split in 2000 based on private causes.
In 2006 Derk Akkermann, Achim Schmidt and Lutz Günther reinvented Saris and began to write new songs. With Lutz’ wife Anja and Thomas Hackmann on vocals Saris was completed. All keyboards and orchestra arrangements are done by Derk and Achim. Thomas is a well known studio artist and worked with many top acts, like Saxon, Rage, Daniele Liverani and others.
In March 2009 “Curse Of Time” was released. While planning out a promotion tour, Drummer Achim Schmidt died as a consequence of pulmonary embolism. The Band decided to stop all activations. But Achim would not have wanted to keep the fans back from Saris music, so Derk, Thomas, Lutz and Anja initially planned to insert a pause only to get distance from this sad event.
Derk has now begun to write new songs and soon Saris will meet again for the first recording sessions to release a new album in 2013. There is still a mystery who belongs to the new members of Saris.
